Renee was first exposed to the physical practice of yoga in 1998 during graduate school. As an avid distance runner and group fitness instructor, flexibility was missing from Renee's wellness routine. It wasn't until 2001, after the birth of her first child, Renee found the true meaning of yoga and began to create a complete yoga practice.
Renee's initial yoga training was in Ashtanga and Hatha yoga which lead to years of teaching yoga in gyms and recreational centers. In 2019, Renee pursued a buck list experience and spent three weeks at an Ashram for her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training under the tutelage of Shree Yogi Hari. Renee became a disciple of the Guru and has made regular pilgrimages to the Ashram since then. In 2021, Renee returned to the Ashram to complete her 300hr training.
Renee Jeffreys Heil is an E-RYT 200, RYT 500 instructor. She also holds a Master's in Exercise Science and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology. In addition, she has the highest clinical certification possible in the health and fitness industry as a Register Clinical Exercise Physiologist.
Renee has lived in SWFL for over eight years. For the first four years, she lamented about the lack of high-quality yoga on her island home. Then, in 2018, she decided to do something about it, and the FMB Yoga Project was born. The FMB Yoga Project teaches classes on Fort Myers Beach at various locations along the island.
With the onsite of COVID19, the FMB Yoga Project expanded to online/live-streamed classes. During the pandemic shut down, these classes were streamed from staff's living rooms, bedrooms, and porches. Not a very good long-term solution - right? Enter Renee's second yoga project, the Saba Movement Center. As studios were re-opened in FL, Renee was offered studio space. This fantastic space allowed her to expand class offerings and live-stream from a more sustainable place. In December 2020, the Saba Movement Center moved to its current, larger location.
Renee takes her passion for yoga and knowledge of the human body and its movement into every class, event, and workshop. She loves working with beginners and individuals who do not believe that yoga is appropriate for their bodies. For Renee, movement is her meditation.
Over the years, she has written a book, Fit to Deliver: An Innovative Prenatal and Postpartum Ftiness Program. and done extensive work with the Exercise is Medicine (R) Initiative of the American College of Sports Medicine.
Renee currently lives and teaches in Fort Myers Beach, FL, through the Saba Movement Center and the FMB Yoga Project. In addition to teaching yoga, Renee is also an avid sailor, scuba diver, and skier. You can find Renee streaming her signature Saturday class from locations both near and far.
